Polish Proposed Amendments Would Ease Requirements On Data Controllers

Polish authorities are currently working on a package of changes to Polish law that is aimed at simplifying the process of running a business in Poland. Significantly, some of the amendments to data protection law might significantly decrease the regulatory requirements of data controllers.
Currently, Poland is one of the few countries in the European Union that requires data controllers to submit each database containing personal information to the data protection authority (“the DPA”). The notification of such databases requires providing the DPA with certain information, for example, information on the data controller (such as seat and address), the scope and purpose of processing data and the implemented security measures. Such notification requirement is related to each database created by the data controller (and not the data controller itself), with minor exemptions. …
